The top 10 submissions will be announced on 03/14/2019 and invited to participate in a live cocktail competition at Mile High Spirits on 04/01/2019 for a chance to win the $1000 grand prize. Prize will also be awarded for 2nd and 3rd place contestants from Bottesi and Cocktail Kingdom. All top 10 bartenders will receive an event exclusive cocktail shaker.

The live competition on 04/01/2019 will consist of 2 rounds.

Round 1

  • Each bartender will be tasked with creating and presenting their original Mile High Spirits recipe submission to a panel of 3 judges and the audience.

  • Each bartender will have a maximum of 10 minutes to reproduce 3 of their original recipes and present to the judges.

  • The top 3 contestants will move on to Round 2, our mystery ingredient round.

Round 2

  • The 3 remaining bartenders will be tasked with creating an original recipe based on the ingredients supplied to them within a mystery basket.

  • Each bartender must utilize EVERY ingredient within the Mystery Basket.

  • Contestants will have 5 minutes to test the mystery ingredients and concept their cocktail.

  • Contestants will have a maximum of 5 minutes to make 3 of their original Mystery Basket drinks and present to the judges.

  • Bartender will be responsible for providing all ingredients to make their original recipe except for Mile High Spirits, basic juices, sodas, and bitters, which will be provided for them.

  • The house will also provide crushed ice and basic glassware. If you would like to bring your own glassware, please feel free.

  • There will be basic tools available but you are encouraged to bring anything that you are more comfortable working with.

Round 2 Judging Criteria:

  • Aroma – 5 points

  • Taste – 20 points

  • Creativity – 10 points

  • Presentation – 15 points

  • Total: 50 points


Recipe Requirements

  • Must be an original creation by the entrant

  • 1 entry submission per individual

  • Recipe to yield 1 drink serving

  • Ingredients must be expressed in fluid ounces (.5 oz., 1 oz., 2 oz., etc.) with dashes and drops being the smallest quantities

  • Minimum 1.5 oz. required of any Mile High Spirits products (can be infused or adulterated)

  • Mile High Spirits are the only alcohols allowed in recipe.  No other alcoholic spirits may be used (sorry, legally we are unable to have or other spirits inside our distillery)

  • Non-alcoholic ingredients are allowed and encouraged

  • Homemade ingredients are welcomed, but should be easily replicable and recipe should be included with submission for judges to recreate and judge accurately

  • Drink Creativity – 5 points

  • Recipe Inspiration – 5 points

  • Photo – 5 points

  • Drink Name – 5 points
